With many successes and awards from every corner of literature, Frost read his poem “The Gift Outright” at president John F. Kennedy’s inauguration and even received the Congressional Gold Medal from Kennedy on his 80th birthday in 1962.
Frost had always said that he wanted to die on the trail in Vermont, but instead died in a hospital room from infected blood clots in his left leg on January 29, 1963. He was 88 years old.
