developing children. As afore mentioned, by age eighteen months, a vocabulary of around fifty words is amounted, but it is thought to be almost a third of these as being overextended.
As a child’s vocabulary slowly develops over time, the meanings of overextended words gets narrower, and the underextended grows. This is because, as I said the vocabulary is growing, and filling the gaps between the extensions, creating a more definite, somewhat correct vocabulary.
