While I am a strong proponent for women playing men’s roles, doing so for the sake of being ridiculously artsy and nouveau is just plain ridiculous. A good portion of the male characters were played by females, and certainly not vice versa. Don Diego Tenorio, Duke Octavio, Don Pedro Tenorio, and Don Gonzalo Ulloa are all played by women. …showed last 75 words of 560 total…if illustrated from a high school history book seemed to waft through not only the set, but the music chosen. The classical music was a good choice, unlike the rest of it pertaining to performance. I spoke briefly about the Metallica piece, and I reiterate: good, but out of place. The design elements of the play were fantastic, but I’m telling you: one can improve upon nothing by adding to it, not complicating it.
