Discrimination in England and Wales is recognised as the act of treating someone less favourably on unjustifiable grounds.

Both the RRA and SDA protect in contexts such as employment, education, the provision of goods and services, housing and advertising.
The law has also prevented positive (reverse) discrimination in favour of traditionally disadvantaged groups In order to remedy past injustices. This can be seen in the Lambeth borough council v cre 1990 case, where two jobs were open only to afro Caribbean or Asian workers. Encouraging women and ethnic members is allowed.
