Delta Airlines traces its roots back to 1924, when Huff Daland Dusters founded the world’s first aerial crop dusting organization. In March 2001 Delta pilots went on an 89-day strike as a show of solidarity and frustration with management’s failure to negotiate in good faith. Finally in June 2001, the Delta pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association ratified a new five-year contract that included pay raises ranging from 24 to 39 percent, and work rule and benefit improvements.
