character is not a good role model. He is what one should try to avoid in life. Miller's message is to be yourself, regardless of what that is, and learn to accept it. Know who you are. Do not put up a false front in order to impress others. That will get you nowhere in life. In the meantime, you, like Willy Loman, will miss what things are really important, like family, honesty, and love.
