Culture Shock in America In America, the dominant culture is that of the WASP (Whit Anglo Saxon Protestant). The dominant culture defines what the culture for their society will contain. Hopefully one day the United States will be able to accept all cultures with open arms. Also, hopefully subcultures will be able to coincide with the dominant culture peacefully, while holding on to their cultural roots.
