Classic Children’s Cartoons
As a mother of a nine-year old daughter, I look back on how children’s television has changed since I was small. Growing up in the 1970’s was vastly different from the high-tech world of the millenium. Due to being in a pre-cable era, television offered three basic network channels, limiting the number of cartoons on air. These shows offered happy endings and good times for children everywhere. They reflected a more simple time. Today, cable and satellite television systems offer hundreds of channels including those that specialize in cartoons such as the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. Although many modern cartoons have classic qualities, the broad variety of programs and entertainment available to kids in the 1990s are taken for granted, and cartoons may no longer become such a special childhood memory.
