There were also good people, reformers. One of whom was Robert Owen (1771-1858). He wanted to create a new type of community in New Lanark. He ordered to build schools in his factories, children were treated a lot better. Robert wrote several books and went around the country making speeches.
Several laws were passed to improve children's work condition and make their life better and better.
