At the beginning of the poem narrator’s views on family were narrowed because he was used to seeing his father act a certain way. Once the narrator had seen his father change for a short time he was awakened to another way of looking at his father. The narrator will now cherish his family more in anticipation of another moment where his father will uncover another side that the narrator has not yet viewed.
