Although in the past hangings, guillotines, and many more ways of capital punishment were used, in the 20th century we have less horrific ways of punishing individuals with less costly ways. Incase the convicted are innocent and are later proved to be not innocent, they can then be released. As well as, life imprisonment in a maximum security jail is more effective towards other delinquents to teach them of castigation rather than death sentences.
