Autumn has to be the most overlooked season of the year. There are plenty of literary pieces on the rejuvenating spring, the beauty of summer, and the seemingly dreary winter, but this is the first poem I have read about the splendor of autumn. John Keats fully recognizes autumn’s importance as he touches on the amazing things that occur during the harvest season. To illustrate the amazing things that take place in autumn Keats

most men don’t (at least men don’t vocalize it). When women feel they don’t have that importance anymore they need to be reassured—just like autumn. Keats, the speaker, recognizes autumn’s needs as well as autumn’s beauty. His role as the speaker is to play the part of the trusted friend who helps to show autumn, what he knew all along, she’s unique and special in her own right.
