Articles of Confederation vs. United States Constitution
The American Revolution left the colonies without laws or an established
government. That’s when the Second Continental congress organized and brought forth
The Articles of Confederation, the first written constitution for the new nation. Under
the Articles, the country was faced with many tough questions that needed definite
answers. Ten years after the ratification of the Articles came there answers in the form

. The Articles left the country too weak and vulnerable in a time when a strong
centralized government was needed. The US Constitution mended many of these
weaknesses and broke ground for a powerful government. It continues to be the basis of
our government over two hundred years later. It gifted framers and support has led our
country to be known as the “Great Democracy.”
