Antigone Tragic Hero Essay
Antigone is not a tragic hero for three main reasons: her fall was not from a position of greatness or nobility; she chose her actions with full awareness of the consequences; and her actions did not cause her to make a huge discovery about herself. Because of these factors, what happens to Antigone is not a tragic downfall, but more so the result of a deliberate course of action.

…showed last 75 words of 908 total…not a tragic hero because she knew the consequences of her actions, she did not fall from a position of high ranking, and she did not make any great self-discovery in her fall. It is debatable whether or not what happened to Antigone should even be considered a "fall." Antigone, herself, would probably not have called her own death a downfall, or defeat. After all, in the end, did she not get what she wanted?
