George Orwell’s Animal Farm is a political satire of a society ruled by a mighty
dictatorship, in all probability a fable for the events surrounding the Russian Revolution.
The animals of “Manor Farm” overthrow their master after a long history of

the rebellion and figures of idolization because they were seen as the key to
new lives. Unfortunately, as with the pigs, power corrupted and the people were affected
directly. From this book, I learned that power, in the hands of a few, is corrupting and
does nothing to benefit the those who are passive enough to let it oppress them. I would highly recommend this novel to anyone because a valuable lesson may be learned.
