“Patterns” vs. “Anthem for Doomed Youth” Poetry could arguably be the most prominent form of self-expression. It is seen in the form of song lyrics, religion, and general poems. The great aspect of poetry is that no one poem or poet is the same. This includes Amy Lowell’s “Patterns” and Wilfred Owens’ “Anthem for Doomed Youth;” however, both works can be compared almost as equally as contrasted. Some aspects of poetry are completely different.

works determine that war is disruptive despite their many differences. Wilfred Owen died at the young age of twenty-five years, but he lived long enough to witness the realms of war. Though Amy Lowell could not have experienced war at first hand, she is not so ignorant to the fact that war is a vile monster that takes life in its jaws and eradicates it. Perhaps that is what these two poems are all about.
