To me, they mean that people that sought freedom from religious persecution, economic oppression and equality under the Declaration of Independence. Freedom is for any and all human beings that have a burning desire exercise their right to live their lives in any fashion that suits them

Pigeon holed augmentation of minorities still exists today in forms of military actions, terrorism, and illusionary superiority by force, institutionalized racisms, and economic policies by both “us” and “them”. We don’t need countless revolutions to force equality and fairness; we need compassion and understanding that there is enough of this world for all of us to co-exist together as the family of humanity.
