The novel Housekeeping, by Marilynne Robinson, takes place in the fictional town of Fingerbone. Fingerbone is a dreary little town that is prone to flooding and misfortune. The story begins by explaining how their grandfather was killed in a train wreck. More hardship comes when their mother borrows their neighbor's car and drives it off a cliff. …showed last 75 words of 1468 total…try to keep a cleaner house and definitely make Ruthie go to school. Though her ways might not be the most orthodox, Sylvie sets a good example for Ruthie and Ruthie really does like being raised by Sylvie.
