A Tragic Hero
How far would you go to stand up for what you believe in and stay true to your values?
The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller in 1953 is an accurate portrait of the witch hunts and trials
in Salem Massachusetts during the 17th century. Heroes are rare but in this case stood John
Proctor. Proctor is an upright, out spoken, proud man. Except this hero doesn’t have a happy
ending, then again not all do.

fit the role of a tragic hero. He did stand up for what
he believed in and stayed true to his values. Would you have given up your life for what you
believed in? Honestly I probably would have been one of those who would have gone with the
crowd in order to save my life. After, reading The Crucible I am thankful to have great leaders in
this world who truly make a difference.
