This is seen when Blanche and Stanley were talking about how Stanley found an interest in women who “Lay…her cards on the table.” (2085). The sexual innuendo that takes places seems to suggest that the “something” primal and base is sex. The fact that Mitch doesn’t want to play poker in the presence of his mother also lends credence to this view.
