Many men feel that it is their job to provide for their family. Men are supposed to be the providers in the household, so every day the “men” go to their jobs and earn their living. However, sometimes things change. The loss of a job or a sever decline in their earning can hurt the male ego if they are no longer to provide the household with enough money.

This play is a prime example of how the male mind works. Men have a overwhelming desire and need to provide. The more money you make, the more people who like you and who fear you the greater the man you are. And that is what drove Willy into remembering the past, a time when he was a man!
