1984
One of the many underlying themes of George Orwell’s 1984 is the dehumanization of a population. In the case of Oceania, the powers that be strip away the humanity of its citizens and seek to turn them into non-thinking and non-feeling drones that are dedicated and devoted to the state. Through psychological manipulation; physical control; information regulation; and the deconstruction of language, the party is able to operate its government how it sees fit.

George Orwell’s 1984 was a warning for what was to come if history continued to repeat itself. He believed that with the state that the world was in during his time, the dehumanization of a nation was not only possible, but a certainty unless there was a dramatic change in world affairs. Psychological manipulation; physical control; information regulation; and the deconstruction of language, is all that is necessary to dominate a nation and its people.
